Fehr Graham helps Freeport Park District secure grant for bike path
Fehr Graham helped the Freeport Park District secure a $200,000 grant to create an expansive bike path at Krape Park. This is one of 13 community projects getting money from a pool of $2,161,000 in Illinois Bicycle Path Grant Program funding to help communities develop and improve 13 local bike paths across Illinois.

The Freeport Park District plans to create a 10-foot-wide bike path that stretches more than half a mile, winding along scenic Yellow Creek. This path will offer a vital connection to local and regional bike paths, enhancing the cycling experience throughout the area. The project also includes a small parking area, providing convenient access for trail users.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources administers the Illinois Bicycle Path Grant Program. Funding comes from a percentage of motor vehicle title fees. The maximum grant award is $200,000 for development projects.
The purpose of the program is to help Illinois municipalities with the acquisition, construction and rehabilitation of public off-road, nonmotorized bicycle paths and related amenities, such as drinking water facilities and restrooms.
