Fehr Graham, a leading Midwest engineering and environmental firm, announced the promotion of Derek Thompson to Branch Manager.
Thompson was promoted from Senior Project Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm's Freeport office. He will continue to serve Fehr Graham clients throughout northwestern Illinois and southwestern Wisconsin while leading business development and marketing initiatives.
"I couldn't be happier to see Derek rise into this role," said Mick Gronewold, a Professional Engineer and one of the firm's owners. "He is a vital part of our team and has a long history with Fehr Graham. I am confident he will continue to ensure we serve our clients well and play a key role in helping the Freeport office thrive by building off the firm's culture and traditions that began in Freeport 49 years ago."
Thompson, who joined Fehr Graham full time in 2012, started with the firm as an intern in 2005 while attending Aquin High School in Freeport. He earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Transportation emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Thompson holds several certifications with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Illinois Department of Transportation.
Thompson takes the reins from Gronewold, who served as Branch Manager since January.
"Our Freeport office is made up of an innovative, talented and dedicated team that I'm proud to help lead," Thompson said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve our Freeport employees and our clients in this role."
Thompson lives in Monroe, Wisconsin, with his wife, Angel, and their daughter, Ava.
