Fehr Graham, an Illinois-based engineering and environmental firm, is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with Trilon Group, a family of infrastructure consulting businesses. The partnership gives Fehr Graham additional capital and resources to expand its services and better serve clients.
Founded in 1973, Fehr Graham is a leading provider of engineering and environmental consulting services to public and private entities throughout the Midwest. Fehr Graham's long-term growth goals can be better achieved with a strong, well-resourced partner that shares their core beliefs and culture, said Fehr Graham CEO Mick Gronewold.
"The key thing that spoke to us is that Trilon has the same approach to business as Fehr Graham," Gronewold said. "Even as our business has grown, we have maintained our small firm feel while delivering large firm capabilities to our clients. That is what Trilon wants – Fehr Graham to stay Fehr Graham. By partnering with Trilon, we will continue to grow in our markets and expand into other markets. In addition, our 200 employees will benefit from more opportunities for career growth."
Fehr Graham selected Trilon Group, which is backed by people-driven equity firm Alpine Investors, because of the company's vision to build the next Top 20 design firm in North America. Trilon is doing that by bringing together the nation's best infrastructure consulting firms like Fehr Graham. Trilon will support Fehr Graham to accelerate the growth and careers of their employees with additional investment in talent, technology, and targeted mergers and acquisitions.
Within Trilon, Fehr Graham will play a critical role in expanding the capabilities and reach of Trilon Midwest, which focuses on environmental, transportation, water and community infrastructure projects.
"We are pleased to have Fehr Graham join the Trilon family, which also comprises Mannik & Smith Group, ESI Consultants and Gonzalez Companies in Trilon Midwest," said Dean Niese, President of Trilon Midwest. "While Fehr Graham will continue to operate as an independent brand, we see significant opportunity to help our teams deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions to our clients, enhanced by access to a greater array of services, locations and resources. Mick and his team have built a great company that aligns well with our partnership."
Fehr Graham is Trilon's second major investment in 2023 following the partnership with Phoenix-based Wilson Engineers in January.
