The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded $400,000 in Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) money to help the City of Rockford continue to clean up and redevelop brownfield properties.
Rockford is one of 24 communities in the RLF program to receive the funding. The City has participated in the program since the early 2000s.
“We are proud to report that a majority of communities receiving these supplemental funds have Opportunity Zones within their jurisdiction, which means we are reaching communities most in need,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler.
Two weeks ago, Rockford was among 149 communities that received a Communitywide Assessment Grant from the EPA to fund environmental assessment and cleanup planning for contaminated sites affected by hazardous substances, pollutants and/or petroleum. That grant was for $300,000.
The City is a longtime Fehr Graham client.
