Fehr Graham helps revitalize former Pillsbury Mills site in Springfield

Fehr Graham is playing a key role in the environmental cleanup of the former Pillsbury Mills site in Springfield, Illinois. The project will kick off this month with asbestos and lead paint chip removal, with contracts secured for site cleanup and building demolition within the next year. Throughout the process, Fehr Graham will work alongside the demolition team to conduct soil, water and air sampling to prioritize safety for the community. After demolition is complete, the site is expected to be redeveloped.

Moving Pillsbury Forward, a not-for-profit organization, has developed a viable path forward for the 18-acre brownfield site. Fehr Graham has been instrumental in securing funding for the project, including $2 million in January 2023, $787,135 in June 2023 and a $2.65 million Cleanup Grant in May 2024.
